James Polkinghorn

I was born in Pittsburgh, PA, where I spent my first 14 years.  My family moved to Florida to follow my father’s ambitions, and we settled in Plantation, FL, a suburb of Fort Lauderdale.  I graduated from Plantation High School and went on to the University of Florida, where I received my undergraduate and law degrees.

I was made a member of Phi Beta Kappa for my undergraduate academic achievements and the Order of the Coif for law school.  I was a member of the Sigma Chi social fraternity.  After law school, I joined a large general practice law firm in Miami, where I received extensive hands-on training in the mechanics of litigation and trial practice.  After eleven years, I moved to Fort Lauderdale to assume leadership of the litigation practice in the local office of a national labor and employment firm.  In the ensuing years, I expanded my practice throughout the state and the nation.  I presently serve as the firm’s national Ethics Partner and perform various training functions.

I now reside in Key West with my wife, Becki, and our dog, Major Tom.  I enjoy SCUBA and water sports of all kinds and am an avid reader. Liquid Shades of Blue is my first novel.
